I was just about to type in once again: Life is awesome right now.
It's amazing how much my life has changed, all because of a single skill set. I am in for the tech job at future shop, I am going to my college tomorrow to check it out and "ensure" my acceptance and I just got back from one of the coolest weekends ever.
We had planned to go down to Calgary a couple times this month, once to go see Flogging Molly (which we missed) and once for the Zan Perrion seminar(which technically, we also missed). After not going down for the concert we were for sure going to Zan.
So it's midnight Wednesday, I know I'm going tomorrow and I'm not ready. I'm not packed, haven't talked to Joogathore and don't even know how to get there and on top of that I had my interview for the tech job scheduled before we would leave for the trip. This is how we tend to do things, just wing it.
The next day I wake up, and I say to myself: "Shit, I can't go to school for the morning at all..." I make some maps, get dressed, throw my laptop and toothbrush in the bag and take off. I nail the interview, get the job and fly over to Jooga's place to get on the road.
Things are going all well, we actually got out of the city on the right track, and then BAM. A loud bang, my car is rattling like crazy, bumping up and down I can barely steer. I find a way to pull over and check out what the hell just happened to my car.
I walk around to the other side and my tire is completley destroyed. I didn't even know a tire could be fucked up to this extent, it looked like it was attacked by a pack of angry beavers, I wasn't going no where on this. Me and Jooga start freaking out, we have no idea what to do. I check to see if I have my spare(remember, winging it) and it's the tiniest tire I have ever seen! It looked like a damn doughnut! On top of that, I have no jack and no tire iron. Our last resort is waving and shouting at people as they drive by, trying to get them to stop and help us out.
I have never been more pissed off at the society we live in until this moment.
Most people just changed lanes and drove right by, some even gave us the finger...fuckers. Jooga is waving the huge spare panel cover, which he wrote help on with a piece of our tire and these bastards doing nothing but stare or avoid eye contact.
Two guys actually do stop eventually, but don't have anything to help us out with. Finally a man stops by with a huge ass toolbox in the box and gets us on our way. Thanks to you buddy!
A minor setback this was, but I sure as hell wasn't letting that stop us getting to Calgary. We roll on the doughnut to Leduc, were we get the back tires changed after going to about three different tire shops.
At last we are rollin' on to Calgary. Speeding our asses off trying to get there for the seminar. Eventually we know we are going to miss it, but I didn't give a shit. Calgary was my destination, my goal. It had now become a mission. We roll in to Calgary around 8:30, the seminar ends at nine. This is when shit got crazy. Calgary is the HARDEST place to get around I have ever been in. We must have asked about 4 different place for directions, and none of them spoke fucking English!
However, we arrive at our goal. The Zan Perrion Seminar and it's 9:00 and it's over...too bad but it was still fucking awesome that we made it to Cow Town and Zan said he would stick around for a while to chat.
In all honesty, I didn't take to him that much. He seemed too much of a nice guy, which is cool for his style, but I still easily relate to a more asshole-ish guru like Orleans. I didn't get to see his seminar which may be why my view is altered but just from chilling there talking to him that's how I felt.
After the seminar, our luck seemed to change. I think it was karma. Everything just seemed to fall in place. We found a place to sarge perfectly, even got into a couple clubs without the bouncers bothering us. It didn't matter that we didn't go see some guru, we made it to Calgary. We accomplished our goal.
That night we stayed at the CC house with The Saint and Elektro, really cool guys to chill with. They live up in a 30 story high apartment with a wicked view of the city. Another ten floors up and we would he as high as the tower. That morning we went on there and threw paper airplanes, trying to get them into the middle of circular parkades.
Next day we went and hit up the mall there for some day game, I noticed a lot of differences in the people there. They seem really dead set in there track as opposed to the huge mall back at home. Maybe I was just having an off day but I was having a real hard stopping girls, I figured that WEM is just more of a chill place as opposed to this mall. Fun as hell seeing the guys run up to chicks looking for high fives, waaay different styles than Jooga and I but we still had a great time.
Soon it was time to hit the road though. We had already made plans back in Edmonton for that night. The trip was fun as hell, totally worth the three hundred dollars and nine hours to get there.
All because we accomplished a goal.
All because of one community I decided to devote myself too.
A lot of people one day are going to be pissed off when I am successful, they worked their ass off so hard to get good grades in school and never get into trouble and they still are going to end up lower on the food chain.
Interesting how this stuff works, I expect to see you all up there with me. We work hard, but on the things that really make the difference.
See you there,
Burgundy.
